A modular system for the night train of the future
ALISA conceives the night train as a flexible, integrated system that can adapt to different operational requirements. At its core is a modular vehicle configuration that combines high passenger capacity, comfort and economically viable operation.
The train consists of three permanently coupled carriages forming a self-contained unit. Multiple units can be flexibly combined, allowing the overall train capacity to be adapted to different routes, demand levels and operational scenarios.
The interior follows the same modular principle. A standardized compartment structure provides the basis for different accommodation concepts and allows the interior configuration to be adapted without modifying the underlying vehicle structure.
Full accessibility of both levels of the double-deck carriage creates high usable capacity within a compact footprint. At the same time, the concept is not limited to night-time operation: its flexible design also enables the vehicles to be used for daytime services.
ALISA brings together the vehicle, interior and operation into a holistic concept — modular by design, flexible in use and tailored to the requirements of the future European night train.

Structure for flexible use
The ALISA layout is based on a modular spatial concept that brings together different travel needs. Eight distinct compartment and accommodation categories provide a diverse range of options, from compact sleeping spaces for individual travelers to solutions for families and groups.
The standardized base structure creates a clear spatial organization while allowing for different configurations. This enables efficient use of the available space and allows the offering to be tailored to different requirements and user groups.

ALISA CMF
Passengers spend considerably more time in a night train than in a conventional long-distance train. As the train is also a place to eat, sleep, wash and change, the atmosphere is more intimate and personal. The colors and materials of the interiors have therefore been carefully selected to create a sense of comfort and well-being throughout the journey. At the same time, all materials must be durable, easy to clean and meet the highest fire-safety requirements.
The petrol-blue portal and light-colored walls create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere in the entrance areas. Darker side walls in the seating areas and compartments provide visual calm and clear zoning. Continuous carpeting and light-dark contrasts in the corridors support orientation and guide passengers clearly towards their compartments.
Warm shades of grey and brown, subtle textures, natural wood surfaces and a restrained use of white create a homely and comfortable atmosphere throughout the different compartment categories.
Fine blue-green patterns on the seating identify the double cabins, family compartments and PRM compartments. Combined with the light, vibrant grain of birch wood and selected functional details in fresh green, these spaces create a friendly and contemporary appearance.
The individual carpet graphics are inspired by the idea of the lightweight construction, bringing a welcoming hotel-like atmosphere into the train. Innovative textiles are used for noise reduction, thermal insulation and as fall protection for the upper beds.
The single cabins and VIP apartment feature an exclusive atmosphere created through refined burgundy flat-woven textiles, dark wood and carefully selected details. Combined with the elegant carpeting, matt metal surfaces and subtle wall textures, they create a premium and distinctive travel experience.
